Which travel company won the 2022 Super Bowl advertising contest?

Did you watch the Super Bowl last night? Neither did I, but plenty of people did and while most people tune in to watch the football game, there’s a certain segment of viewers who are there for the half-time show or the steady parade of creative advertisements that air between plays.

This year, there was lots of talk of crypto-adjacent companies looking to make a splash, but another industry that’s been hurt by the pandemic and wants to grab people’s attention is the travel industry. It was represented by three companies airing ads during the game, Booking.com, Expedia, and Turkish Airlines.

In case you missed their efforts, check them out here:

Booking.com

In its 30-second spot, popular actor Idris Elba explains to viewers in a fun and light-hearted way how good Booking.com is good at booking travel.

Expedia

Expedia also uses a well-known actor for its pitch, Ewen McGregor, who spends his 30 seconds urging us to forget about buying “stuff” and splurge on experiences instead.

Turkish Airlines

Finally, Turkish Airlines touts the fact that it flies to more destinations than any other airline by using the analogy of Pangea to illustrate how it brings continents together. The ad stars, and is narrated by, Morgan Freeman who brings his voice and gravitas to the 1-minute role.

So which of the travel ads was favourite? Let us know in the comments.
