Route 66, the highway that once connected Chicago to Los Angeles, still holds a powerful pull on the popular imagination.
My earliest travel memories were formed there on a family road trip that took us from Montreal to Arizona. Years later, I traced what was left of Route 66 on another road trip and was amazed to find places that I remembered from when I was a kid.
